Congress Delays Medicare Cut Decision For 2 Months. How Can A 27.4% Cut In Physician Payment Be Considered?

Many Physicians tell me that they lose money NOW seeing Medicare patients. If there is another cut in reimbursement, how will any doctor be willing to treat Medicare patients? Will the government mandate that doctor treat them in order to keep their licenses?

When my doctor retired about six years ago I had to call five or six offices before I found a doctor willing to treat me because my primary insurance is Medicare. I was flabbergasted when the first question I was asked was whether or not I had Medicare.
If Congress cuts physican reimbursement even further I must wonder if my doctor would drop me. As far as I know there is no law requiring doctors to keep the Medicare patients they have unless that is made part of the new law. Even then what would someone do when their physician retires or dies? And I wonder if I would have had my knee replacement surgery this past summer. As it is I noticed that Medicare reimbursed everyone at less than 50% of what was billed.
If the cuts go through I’m thinking that national health insurance would be the only way for this country to go.

Will continue to be delayed until after the elections. If GOP wins,we’ll lose, especially the elderly.
Yes,hospitals and caregivers will not be able to treat medicare patients except as indigent as charitable cases. If not, they go with out treatment,in many cases they’ll die.
Now,for those who will TD,lifetime of working and paying into this and SS should at least assure humane treatment for those who need it.Cut pay, pensions and benefits for legislators before screwing the at need people. Then they can prove they are for the people.
