Shelters that allow people to volunteer as a form of payment for a spay or neuter??
I was just reading an article about shelters that allow people to volunteer a certain amount of hours to cover the cost of a spay or neuter, but I can’t find this article anywhere now!
Anyone have any idea about this??

Never heard of that, but it’s possible. I know a shelter where sometimes, to adopt a pet, you can pay half the adoption fee and “pay” the rest by doing, I think, 30 hours of volunteering. So it’s highly probable that some shelters do the same but with spay and neuter. I find it’s a good idea.
If you’re interested in doing that, just call your local shelter and ask if they do this. If not, they may be able to refer you, or maybe they could even start doing it, we never know!

I don’t. I’m not going to say it’s absolutely not true, but a volunteer is just that. Someone who gives their time to a cause with NOTHING in return. Sounds more like a barter arrangement in lieu of pay to me

That’s a very interesting concept and I’d love to have that article myself. In the meantime, if you have an animal who needs to be spayed or neutered, check out http://www.lovethatcat.com/spayneuter.html for low-cost or free spay/neuter programs across the U.S.
