How Can I Politely Ask For Payment – It’s Been 6 Months.?

Back in July, my fiance and I got rid of our pet chinchilla and gave it to a friend. Well didn’t give it to her, I told her we would sell it and all supplies for $250. She said she couldn’t afford it then, so I told her just pay me a little bit every month. Well it’s been 6 months and I haven’t receieved anything. How do I ask for my payment, or else for the chinchilla back as she agreed to this and hasn’t followed through.

    6 months is a while, I would ask her how she is doing with her finances. Tell her that you would be alright with very small payments, $10-20 would do. Be understanding, but if she says she cannot pay any of it, as her why it was that she promised to pay a little bit each month if she wasn’t planning on paying you. Say that if she doesn’t think that she can follow through with her promise, you should probably take your chinchilla back.

    in the whole 6 months have you followed this up at all? because it looks as though they are not going to pay you and i don’t think being polite will get you your money back at this point.
    Put pressure on them, saying you understand they can’t afford the dog so you’ve found another buyer . You’ll come around to collect the dog in the morning :)

    This might be uncomfortable, but you will just have to be open and honest. Tell her that you’re going through your 2011 finances and was wondering if she was able to pay you for Mr. Bubbles now so you can write that down for 2011 and put the money in your savings.

    You should never give an animal away to someone; who cannot afford pet supplies. If she cannot afford $250.00. Then, she doesn’t deserve a pet at all. I hope when you take your old chinchilla back. I hope you keep it for good. It deserves a good home.

    She ‘aint much of a friend if she’s holding out money, so you’re not obliged to be polite…or get bf to talk to her.
