Is it best to pay off balance immediately? Make a couple of payments to show I’m consistent? Not have the entire credit line used up at once?

1) ay on your bill only after the bill actually arrives(if you pay prior to billing date it will never get counted in to raise your credit score) 2) pay the full amount due before the due date each month( this avoids paying any interest whatsoever and raises your credit score 3) never utilize more than 30% of your credit line if you need to make payments and are not paying in full monthly (with this you are being charged interest) live within your means.
Use the card for regular purchases, wait for the statement, and pay the balance in full every month. This will build credit and avoid interest.
There is no advantage to carrying balances. It just costs interest. Likewise, there really is no advantage to paying immediately after making the charge. it’s likely that your card won’t show utilization when the credit card company makes their once a month update to the credit bureaus.
While it is true that utilization plays a part in your FICO score, it really isn’t worth the effort to figure out exactly when the card updates to the credit bureaus and then schedule payments and charges to get that magic percentage. As long as you pay the balance in full every month, it really does not matter how much of your limit you use. Paying off the balance rebounds your score. It all evens out in the end.
Yes to 1 & 3. Use the card for a budgeted amount every month and pay it off (before the last day) in full every month. Do not run it up to the full line of credit, ever, except in an emergency and then make arrangements to pay it off asap. A small bank loan for a couple months if that should happen wil make more sense because the interest will be much lower and you wll pay it on time.
Simply use it for everyday things that you would normally pay cash for and pay it off in full every month before the due date.
I used 3 credit cards after my BK in 2001 this way and raised my score 150-points in 1 year.
never use more the 30% of the limit and pay in full when the bill comes. Carrying a balance on a credit card does not help your score
