Is It Right To Demand The Payment Of A Poker Game To A Friend ?

Hi mates, I am not involved in gambling, but my friends are.
They played poker (with others) and one of them beat USD 5000, the other accepted. He loses.
Now my winner friend is demanding to my loser friend to pay. My loser friend does not have that money, and the winer proposed him to sell some woods.
Somehow it is not the same to have a debt because you “bought” a car, and can not pay him, (you have a material good or asset), but in gambling .. . . . there is no lose or asset tranfer.
What is your opinion ?
