Im a 21 year old male and im interested in buying my first motorcycle soon. I was looking for a used 2008-2010 kawasaki ninja250. From the dealers ive looked up here in chicago, it will run me around $3000. I want to buy it soon as ive been told they are cheaper in the winter but i dont have all the money in hand yet. Right now i have about half ($1500) which i would like to put down as my down payment and finance the rest. Also i dont have much credit so i was going to get my dad to cosign it. I would easily be able to pay off the bike (along with purchasing all my gear, insurance, etc) by june or july. My only concern is would a dealer allow me to do this? I also want to try to avoid heavy interest.

As ‘easy…’ was saying it’s going to cost you and financing a bike that you can only ride MAYBE 2/3rds of the year in the Chicago area is going to piss you off during the off-season, four months costing you money and you can’t even use the F-ing thing PLUS you’ll need to ‘winterize’ it which even adds more money to the pot with battery-tender, fuel-stablizer, etc.
Suggest you save up, buy used what you can afford to pay cash for.
And good quality riding gear is not cheap.
helmet, gloves, jacket, there’s the $1000 gone…. so your looking at a $500 deposit on a $3000 bike..
$2500 loan..$25 a week payments..2 years to pay it off..
& then there’s INSURANCE… could be another $1000
this $3000 bike could end up costing you $6000
