   2. Activating the phone is calling the 1-800 number for the company or going to the companies website and entering the serial number of the phone. This will give your phone service so you are able to make and receive calls.
   3. You have to activate a prepaid phone to have service with it. You can usually activate a prepaid phone 24/7 online or during certain hours during the day if you want to do it over a land line. home phone, or another cell phone.
   4. Some prepaid phones will come with a few starter minutes so you can make sure that your phone is working. But you will have to purchase more minutes from the website or from a store that sells the minutes for that brand of phone. When you go to buy minutes make sure to take the phone and write down the brand of phone you bought.
   I know that Tracfone/Net10 and Straight Talk all sell some phones of the same model with in each company. If you have a Tracfone and you buy Net10 minutes for the phone at the store and try to use them in your phone, they will not work. No store will let you return prepaid minutes. So you would be out how ever much you spent on the minutes and you would still have to purchase more minutes for your phone to be able to use them.
