Im 17, turning 18 soon and I’d like to take out a contract for the newest iphone, except they turned me away because i was ‘underage’….I have a full I’m job so i will be able to pay the monthly fee and my parents refuse to take it out in their name because they’re worried i’ll go over every month…so my only option left is to try online, where as far as i know they cant exactly check for ID if I lie about my age?
Any advice? Will it work? Is there anybody else that has done this??

It won’t work, because they will ask for your debit card details to set up the contract. They will check the card details on their database and that will come back as a card owned by a 17 year old. The contract will immediately be rejected and you will not receive your phone. Can you find an adult who will take out the contract in their name, with a view to it being transferred to your name once you turn 18? Bear in mind that, if you do things this way, the network have no obligation to accept the transfer of the contract to your name, meaning that the adult who takes out the contract may be forced to keep it in their name for the entire duration of the contract.
